Mac attacks the Big Apple!

Postby Lynney » Wed Aug 11, 2004 8:00 am

Mac will be performing in NYC at Makor August 16th and Virgin Union

the Bump Band's 'Rise & Shine!' and the long-awaited Faces Box
Set, 'Five guys walk into a bar...'

"This will be a reading, singing, playing the piano and dancing
show. Ok, there's no dancing, but I will be reading, singing,
playing the piano and telling lies. Well, not lies exactly, just
extended truths, you know, stories.

And I'll sign anything and answer any questions and give away money.
OK, I won't be giving away money, you'll be doing that, but I will
be doing all the other things, OK?

That's reading, singing, playing the piano and forgetting lyrics.
No I won't do that but I will be signing, answering and giving my all."

I don't know where you live, but if you can afford to drive to see Mac, it's one of the best road-trips you'll ever experience. One listen to Rise & Shine is enough to sell that idea as fact.

So, Lynney, how'd Mac do on NPR? I tried to stream it at work, but couldn't get a connection.

I can't get the live feed. It just keeps looping the station advert. The web cam is working! :D Wish I could hear what's going on though.

Faces on NPR: It's brilliant... Thanks, as always, to Mac/Faces Lynney. And the Fresh Air piece mentions somebody wise enough (Dave Davies, no relation) to pronounce Mac's surname correctly! Eh?

Brilliant shit, Lynney. Pardon my verbiage, but it's utterly fantastic exposure on the network I respect most: NPR! NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO.

It's nice to hear Mac explain that his dislike of the "all too beautiful" line stems from his being able to date the acid era- it's the first time I've heard him explain it so well. And I love how the interviewer (Mr. Davies) allowed him to speak. And the interviewer knew what he was talking about!

I'm listening again now, and if newbies never have, please do!

And to listen to "You're So Rude" in mono makes me rethink it as perhaps the best song ever made. It sounds so in-yer-face in a good mono mix!

Ta-

"you can hear his smile" (Mac talking of Ronnie's delivery on "You're So Rude")

It's probably far too late now, but I guess there aren't any '5 guys...' events taking place in the UK??

And when is Mac wending his merry way over here to sing, sign and answer questions??
Hey, what's your name again??
